Karen Hazlehurst
Hello, my name is Karen Hazlehurst, and I have been a reiki master for 11yrs, giving workshops world wide, at the same time as being a practicing 'healer'.
I trained as a state registered nurse, at the royal Liverpool hospital, qualified in 1982, afterwards specialising in coronary care.
Some years later I trained and practiced as an Acupuncturist, at the society of biophysical medicine, Liverpool, at the same time learning the skill of counseling, and following my interest in psychology.
I changed my life course and went traveling, and my interests in complementary and energy work increased. And at a point my personal search for god or spirituality, or the meaning of life, and my healing work converged, at the time I began to learn Reiki, a synthesis of my knowledge occurred. My journey continued.
In January 1994, I was initiated as a reiki master, and I continued to practice and study, not only reiki, but also shamanism, metapsychology, many things really...
Whilst practicing and teaching and meeting with people of like minds I gained more and more experience in things like massage to merkaba, processing work to meditation, creativity gaining as much direct experience as possible. I am also a certificated tai chi teacher. (I can also design and install solar energy systems of the electrical kind. Just to let you know I am quiet practical and not very fluffy).
I have given many workshops under the title reiki workshop, my aim is to help folks find their way, support in their own healing journeys for self and others.
I am a practicing Zen Buddhist, they have a saying when the sage points to the moon, look at the moon, not the finger – in other words my aim is to be a finger, that can share my knowledge, or act as a sign post to the next place, which of course is here and now. But to quote Ram Dass," sometimes you have to let go of it all before you realise you did not have to let go of any of it." And I say, living and learning can be fun.
Receiving the Reiki initiations opened and changed my life irrevocably in a positive way.
Maybe Reiki is a gate for you. - As a healing system it does work.
