Dietrich Heiseke

Dietrich Heiseke studied forestry at the universities of Göttingen, Munich and Vienna, PhD in silviculture.

1968-72 work at the Forest Service of Lower Saxony, Germany, forest inventory and management plans, later research assistant at the Univ. of Göttingen. Establishment of natural forest reserves.

1972-74 Ass. Expert at FAO-Project in Brazil, research on Cerrado woodlands and fast-growing species.

1974-82 Forest Service in Lower Saxony, administration and management of forests districts, exploitation and sale, forest machines, nursery, fire protection, nature conservation, hunting.

1982-85 Establishment of the Forest Faculty Monterrey, Mexico, research and teaching in agro-forestry, range management, silviculture.

1985-88 Professor of silviculture, tree-breeding and nature conservation at the Tech nical Forest College Göttingen.

1988-1997 Regional forest supervisor at the Forest Service of Lower Saxony. Then consultant in different forest programs in Peru, Honduras, Guatemala Bolivia.
